High School Counselor Flies High at 10,000 Feet
Secondary Counselor Eddie Burgo flies on a VIP flight out of Pensacola, Florida
July 7, 2010--Pensacola, Florida
Here are some pictures taken before, during and after the VIP flight that Pascagoula High School Guidance Counselor Eddie Burgo took with the US Navy Blue Angels #7 Pilot Christian “CJ” Simonsen. The Blue Angels are the headline act for the 2010 Dayton Air Show.
After Burgo’s flight was over, Lt. Simonsen stated that they pulled 7 G’s and his first passenger “did awesome”.
Prior to the flights, Burgo was briefed by Crew Chief Travis Simpson on the physiology of the flight. He was taught a technique that would be used when entering a roll or dive. When you enter a roll, the G Forces (Gravitational Forces) push all of the blood in your body to your feet, causing you to pass out. The pilots have to learn a special technique that pushes the blood back to their brains, allowing them to remain conscious to perform their duties and fly the plane.
Lt. Simonsen also stated that Burgo was able to get through all the maneuvers without passing out or getting sick.
To conclude his flight, Eddie Burgo was presented with a certificate to commemorate this day. And from the excited look on his face along with Blue Angel #7, I doubt he will ever forget this once in a lifetime experience.
